Teagan has been glued to Shrek the Halls over the last couple weeks. When we watched it, I turned to Matt and said, (as I'm sure many others have) someone should make an icon out of Puss In Boots mesmerized by the ball on his hat. And sure enough...
I have to give props to _lushkink for making this icon that I've adopted for the holidays.

Until I figure out a better system of putting these on the Clothdiapering community....
I'm not even opposed to putting my little man in pink or purple. I just have a lot of Fuzzibunz and am on unpaid maternity leave so could use some income. I'll be posting cute Carter and Gymboree clothes soon and maybe some Happy Heinys.

Matt bought me a paid LJ account. Thanks, sweetheart! I'm excited because although I don't post here much I'm pretty active on the clothdiapering community and will likely be selling my diapers and chidren's clothing there. However, this requires the ability to post pictures. So, without asking, Matt upgraded my account. :) He's so thoughtful sometimes. The other minor issue I have right now is that Matt is watching his dad for a few days while his mom is out of town and has his laptop. I have the old one, but it's running on Windows98, I think and my camera software requires 2000 or better. Probably the Kodak software would bog it down anyway as it's capacity is pretty small. It's alright though, Matt will be home tomorrow night and sometime late August (I hope) I'll be getting a new laptop.
Anyway, this is titled test run because I want to see how it is that I post a picture behind a cut so when I get over to my CD community I'll be better prepared. :)

Calling all artists.....
Now that Cael has arrived I can finally get my long-awaited butterfly tattoo. I've been thinking about this since Teagan was born, you'd think I'd have a design ready. But I don't and I'm looking for anyone who's inspired to create a design with the following guidelines:
1. Needs to incorporate two butterflies 2. Needs to incorporate the element of air (Teagan is a Libra and Cael is a Gemini) 3. Needs to fit on the lower outer portion of my calf (I'm thinking probably around an inch per butterfly)
Feel free to incorporate celtic knotwork, a thistle or other natural elements. I was thinking something to mirror Matt's shark swimming through water, but with butterflies caught in an upward gust of wind, but I'll entertain any ideas you have.
I'd like to have it inked before mid-August. I'm willing to pay a small commission fee for the design I use and hope that having a permanent display of your art on my body is also in some way payment. I naturally will tell everyone who did the artwork. :)
Thanks in advance.

Thanks to my sister-in-law for compiling this list for her blog. (www.jennifermcmillin.blogspot.com)
Buying bottled water in a country with safe drinking water like the US is pretty ridiculous. If you're traveling in India, okay fine. My solution has always been to carry a trusty and refillable (not to mention unbreakable) Nalgene bottle.
Bottled water is a symbol of wastefulness. To illustrate, here are ten interesting (and somewhat scary) facts about bottled water:
- An estimated 25 percent or more of bottled water is really just tap water in a bottle - sometimes further treated, sometimes not. – Allaboutwater.org
- Drinking bottled water is 1000 (one thousand!) times more expensive than drinking tap water.
- In a study conducted by Showtime television, the hosts found that 75% of tested New York City residents actually preferred tap water over bottled water in a blind taste test. – Allaboutwater.org
- Bottling and shipping water is the least efficient method of water delivery ever invented. The energy we waste using bottled water would be enough to power 190,000 homes. – PBS.org
- The Earth Policy Institute estimates that making the plastic for water bottles [consumed annually] burns up something like 1.5 million barrels of oil, enough to power 100,000 cars for a year. – SeattlePI.com
- Nearly 90 percent of water bottles are not recycled. - SeattlePI.com
- Bottled water is actually much less regulated than tap water. There are a number of studies which found arsenic, disinfection byproducts and bacteria in bottled water. – SeattlePI.com, quoting Gina Solomon.
- 30 million water bottles are thrown away every day, and each one of them takes 1000 years to biodegrade. – emagazine.com
- In one case, bottled water labeled as "Alaska Premium Glacier Drinking Water: Pure Glacier Water from the Last Unpolluted Frontier" was actually drawn from Public Water System #111241 in Juneau. – emagazine.com
- Buying one gallon's worth of bottled water is three times more expensive than buying one gallon of gasoline. – emagazine.com
Okay, so if all that wasn't enough to convince you not to buy bottled water, consider that the shipping of bottled water burns A LOT of fossil fuels and results in the release of thousands of tons of harmful emissions. Not to mention the energy used to filter, process, and refrigerate.
What to do? Some tips for alternatives to buying bottled water : - If your tap water isn't ideal, get a filter for your tap or a Brita filter for your fridge.
- Refill glass or durable plastic containers with filtered water.
- For parties or events, use pitchers or water dispensers that you can use over and over again. Provide reusable cups instead of disposables, and if you must use disposables, get the recyclable ones.

Cheers to all you Mamas out there for all the things you do that go unnoticed to make the lives of your family run smoother. For all the little sacrifices and tough choices....
Matt said earlier "Every day is mother's day ..and father's day and so on..." and while I agree that I think it's important to always tell your friends and family that you love them and they are appreciated....it's still nice to set aside a day to say it again, to feel a little more appreciated than usual. :)
To you!
